Brunei: Canned food distributors urged to apply for permit.

The Halal Meat Importation Certification Committee reiterated the need for canned food distributors to apply for permit to avoid their products being detained at the Muara port.

To apply for permit, the distributors must fully sponsor two observers from Halal Inspection Committee and six personnel from the Islamic Religious Council, Agriculture Department, Medical and Health Services, Syariah Department, Halal Meat Importation Certification Commitee and State Mufti Office to go to their processing plant to ensure that the slaughtering process is according to Islamic practice, before they can get the permit.
