$5.2 million project completed in mid-December
The new conference center and library at Western Pennsylvania Hospital are getting attention not only because of how they were constructed, but also how they were funded.
The $5.2 million project, which was under construction for almost a year, was completed in mid-December without any financial help from outside entities. In fact, the effort was financed entirely with private dollars.
"It's unusual in today's world that this state-of-the-art project was done strictly with private funds. They didn't ask the government for anything," said Allegheny County Executive Jim Roddey. "They raised all of the money on their own. I wish more projects were done this way."
