Creating a new Cadillac isn't as easy as putting new sheetmetal on a Corvette chassis, or is it?

While General Motors has been careful to distance the upcoming 2003 Caddy two-seater from Chevy's much-loved American icon, GM engineers clearly are transplanting parts between prototypes of future models for both divisions. In these photos, note the similar wheels undergoing testing on the Corvette, as well as on the heavily disguised Cadillac roadster prototype.

Cadillac's CLR, based on the 1999 concept Evoq, will be a rear-wheel-drive model built on GM's next-generation performance-car platform, which also is expected to underpin the C6 Corvette. ...
