DG adds low-end MV/2500 DC

Say hello to the Eclipse MV/2500 DC, an integrated minicomputer system just released by Data General. The new system is designed to strengthen the low-end 32-bit product line, now home to the Eclipse MV/1400 DC, the MV/2000 DC and the MV/7 800 DCX systems.

The new minicomputer is rated at 1646 kWhetstones, 72 percent faster than the MV/1400 DC and the MV/2000 DC. CPU performance is said to be two to three times that of a Micro VAX II, using various commercial and scientific benchmarks.

Increased integral mass storage capabilities, input/ output performance and enhanced CPU allow the MV/2500 DC systems to be tailored to …
