The most recent financial report for AtHome Corp. highlights the growing gull between the success of the company's broadband service and the failure of its Excite portal.

AtHome's dismal report for the fourth quarter of 2000, in which it lost $5.4 billion, also mixed news of rapidly depreciating acquisitions and planned divestitures of noncore businesses with ballooning subscriber counts for the company's broadband service operations.
