In ancient history, the Huns and the Mongols would loot and rampage when they arrived. The Clintons, doing them one better, have done so on the way out.
President Clinton used the power to pardon to bestow legal kisses on a collection of rogues as disreputable as himself. Marc Rich, a commodities trader who was indicted for evading $48 million in taxes, got the most ink. Rich was prosecuted by Rudy Giuliani-not always an indication of guilt. But rather than stand trial, Rich fled to Switzerland; his former wife, Denise, who stayed home, has given over a million bucks to the Clintons and other Democrats. Also pardoned: Susan "Hot Pants" McDougal, former Whitewater partner who went to jail rather than rat (or even testify in favor of her Bill); Henry Cisneros, former cabinet member who lied to the FBI about payments to his mistress; six crooks in the penumbra of former cabinet member Mike Espy; four Hasidic Jews who scammed the government for education aid, but whose sect supported Hillary Clinton in her Senate race; Tom Bhakta, an Arkansas tax cheat whose wife and kids gave Hillary's campaign $4,000, and whose lawyer also represented her commodities trader.
