A controversial development in the heart of Providence's Eagle Square neighborhood may be a step closer to construction -- despite continued opposition from members of the community.
In two City Plan Commission meetings late last year, more than 400 artists turned out to publicly object to the destruction of the area in which they worked, so a development corporation could put in a strip mall with a Shaw's Supermarket and 26 neighboring stores.
