OSAKA--Traffic accident victims and their families complained bitterly at a recent forum in Osaka Prefecture about the extent of their suffering--physical, psychological, economic or otherwise--as a result of such accidents, which claim about 10,000 lives every year.
A symposium, organized by The Yomiuri Shimbun, Osaka, was held Feb. 4 in Yomiuri Bunka Hall in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, to discuss how to prevent traffic accidents and improve assistance to the victims and their families. The symposium complemented a series of articles published by the paper in 1999 and 2000 exploring problems arising from traffic accidents.
