I LOVE IT. IT IS EVERYTHING I THOUGHT it would be. The quality has been tops, not one complaint for the dealer. I have not been able to achieve the 52-mpg city fuel efficiency consistently, but it definitely gets higher mpg in city than highway. My overall average for the first 2335 miles is 42.78 mpg, about 50/50 city/highway (65 to 75 mph). You can definitely see the effect of driving style and conditions (speed, wind, grade, etc.) on the fuel usage via the consumption graph on the display.
It has been a blast describing it to curious people. The ladies at my
92-year-old mother's retirement apartment were my most excited audience. Toyota seems to be on the leading edge of a trend, and I enjoy driving a Toyota at a reasonable price. It also feels good on ozone-alert days to see the SULEV sticker on the window and know I am doing my part. I still enjoy my pre-cat-converter Jensen Healey with raw fuel spilling out of the carb's venturi, but it isn't very environmentally responsible.

THE ACCELERATION IS A BIT SLOW, BUT the tradeoff is worth it. The only complaint I have is that the highway ride is a bit unpleasant. The car seems to need more steering input than most I have driven and tends to wander a bit. While you hear a lot about modulating the brakes, I have not found the brakes hard to get used to. Considering all the new technology in the car, it is an amazing engineering accomplishment. The transition of power from electric to gas is seamless, the CVT transmission is smooth and the car has been flawless since delivered.
