'Radical' university planned for Tokyo Yomiuri The Tokyo metropolitan government announced Thursday it will integrate four metropolitan universities under its jurisdiction with the goal of transforming them into a radical new style of university with an independent corporation-based administration. The four universities--Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology, Tokyo Metropolitan University of Health Sciences and Tokyo Metropolitan College--will be integrated and consolidated over a period of about four years, metropolitan government officials said.
