In response to mounting pressure from the Liberal Democratic Party and the opposition camp, House of Councillors member Masakuni Murakami of the LDP decided Saturday to accept the opposition camp's call to testify before the upper house Budget Committee over his alleged involvement in a scandal-tainted mutual-aid association for small and medium-size company owners, LDP sources said Saturday.
The sources said Murakami will inform Mikio Aoki, secretary general of the LDP's upper house members' group, of his intentions on Monday.
