Trying to snag the most drool-worthy dude around? Here's how to floor the most-wanted man in the room with a fresh, no-fail flirting style.

* You're at a party kicking it keg-side with your girlfriends when he walks through the door: a guy so cute, confident, and all-around craveable, he looks like he stepped out of the pages of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog. You have to have him, but you know that every other party-goer possessing two X chromosomes has the same plan. So how do you entice him?

The key to setting yourself apart from the crowd is to throw Mr. Most Wanted some flirtatious curveballs, says Felicia Rose Adler, author of Master Dating: How to Meet and Attract Quality Men! (Blue Sky Marketing, 1999). "This kind of man is used to being fawned over, so he's bored by the usual things women do to land guys," she says. "You have to use tactics he's never seen before." Here, the four innovative alternatives to try--and the yawn-inducing moves to avoid--to make the man of everyone's dreams part of your own romance reality.

SURPRISE STRATEGY 1

Act Fast, Act First

He's-over-it MO: Circling him like a shark waiting to strike won't work. While you build up the nerve to approach him, he's checking out every single girl in the place.

Make-him-yours move: The minute you notice him, walk right up and start talking. "He's used to women being nervous around him," says Adler. "By going straight for him, you're showing him that you're not too intimidated to make a move." This take-no-prisoners tactic worked for Celine [*] a 27-year-old advertising executive in Nashville. "I spotted my boyfriend in a sports bar and immediately could see that at least five other girls were checking him out. So I squeezed in next to him and asked him the score of the game. He ended up asking for my phone number."
