After a series of threatening phone calls to the station during her radio show, the police had assigned Detective Boyd Fletcher to protect her.
"This is ridiculous," Cilla said to Boyd as they entered the deejay booth. "I don't see why I have to have a cop in the studio with me every night." Before Boyd could respond to the dark-haired beauty, she took her seat, ran a voice check, then turned on her mike.
"All right, Denver, this is Cilla O'Roarke coming to you on KHIP. You've got me from 10 P.M. till 2 in the morning. We have the mystery song coming up. If you can give me the title, the artist, and the year, you've won yourself a fistful of cash."
The music blasted out, pleasing her. She was in control again.
"Elton John," Boyd said from behind her. 'Honky Cat.' Nineteen-seventy...two."
