Whether you want to look seriously stunning for a special soiree or just blow your man away on your standing Saturday-night date, the following strategies are guaranteed to give you those results. We'll be honest--this isn't a five-minute quick-fix routine. But if you give us about 45 minutes for hair and makeup, we'll give you a molten-hot look. "Achieving a strikingly sexy effect involves pumping up your features in just the right way," says NYC makeup artist Leslie Lopez, who re the behind-the-scenes tricks she uses on many o our cover shoots; "Line your lips so they look fuller, and fill in your brows to make your eyes stand out. Layer a pink blush over a bronzer for a flushed cheek effect."
The same attention should be paid to your hair, says Max Pinnell, the NYC tresspert who often joins forces with Lopez to create our cover looks. 1 Nab the lush body that's key to sexed-up tresses by spritzing a styling spray onto the roots of clean hair that's been towel-dried and combed. We used Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray, $15. Lift three-inch sections at a time, aiming the bottle's nozzle directly at your scalp.
2 Blow-dry your hair haphazardly using your hands to scrunch sections until they're almost dry. "Tousling your hair as it dries really pumps up the volume," says Pinnell. Note: If your hair is curly, keep the blow dryer on a low setting and pointed downward to prevent poufiness.
3 So locks will achieve an irresistible sheen, finish blow-drying your hair using a paddle brush to create smooth texture and nix any flyaways. Then apply a dime-size amount of shine serum to palms, rub hands together, and lightly smooth them over your mane. Try Redken Glass, $12.95. Begin creating touchable, romantic curls by loosely spiraling a two-inch section of hair around a large curling iron, holding it for five seconds, and releasing.
4 Immediately after you've curled that section, wrap the ringlet around your finger and secure it to your scalp with a bobby pin. Continue curling and pinning sections until your whole head is done, then let it set while you move on to your get-racy makeup routine.
