Honda's seventh-generation Civic is likely headed to the United States in 2002 in a three-door hatchback model that, according to Honda sources, will eclipse its five-door counterpart for driving fun.

Initially available this summer in Europe only, the three-door will feature go-kart-like handling and precise steering to challenge the Ford Focus and forthcoming Peugeot 307. The Focus and the new Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix sport hatch will provide competition in the United States.
