By-Word Technology device lets car phone users do just that

Using a cellular telephone may soon become even easier than flipping on a car radio.

That's because a Dallas company has developed a new device that lets drivers dial a car phone without taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road.

By-Word Technologies Inc. is one of the first companies in the country to merge cellular telephone capabilities with advanced speech recognition technology. The result is a cellular telephone that can be dialed with the touch of a voice.

The product itself is a miniature processor that listens for voice commands and translates those commands into electronic impulses that carry instructions to the telephone.
