Ride to the top a quick one for Southwest Elevator

In an industry that definitely has its ups and downs, Southwest Elevator Cabs Inc. has risen quickly to the level of its well-established competitors.

Three former Coerver Industries Inc. employees founded the elevator cab manufacturing company in December 1984 with $50,000 and a Sears credit card. Southwest Elevator reported 1988 revenues of $6.6 million and expects to bring in about $8 million in 1989 selling the cabs, which range in price from $3,000 to $65,000 each, said co-founder and president Derald Armstrong.

The up-and-coming company has already supplied elevator cabs to some prestigious projects, including the InterFirst Bank/Park Cities Building, Texas Stadium, IBM's Southlake campus, and the Grand Floridian Beach Resort at Disney World.
