Since the denizens of Davos first learned to spell www, they have theorized that the Internet would help companies become better global citizens--mainly by increasing communication with customers and the public. But last week a session to unveil Pricewaterhouse Coopers's 2001 Global CEO Survey found that fully two thirds of the 871 chief executives interviewed thought their company was not using the Internet effectively. "The bottom line is that the potential for using the Internet for both self-interest and public interest remains extremely untapped," said James Schiro, the CEO of Pricewaterhouse Coopers USA.
