Polydor has rounded off its best year to date by capturing both the singles and albums market share crowns for the whole of 2000.

The Universal operation becomes the first company since Virgin in 1998 simultaneously to take both titles. On singles it comfortably beat 1999's winner EMI:Chrysalis into second place with 11.3% and a 3.4 percentage points lead, while on albums overcame 1999 champion Virgin by just 0.8 percentage points to top the table with an 8.6% share.
