2001 JAN 25 - (NewsRx.com) -- The findings of a study by researchers in Canada suggest risk of placenta previa is higher in women who are pregnant with male babies.
S.W. Wen and colleagues with Health Canada investigatd the relationship between male sex at birth and placenta previa. The researchers calculated and compared the ratio of male births to female births among pregnancies with and without placenta previa.
"The male-to-female ratio at birth was higher in pregnancies complicated by a placenta previa (1.19) than in those without it (1.04; P[less than]0.02)," they wrote.
