I AM writing to express my disappointment over the current policy of extending the expiry date when renewing a passport. Such a policy is either vague or non-existent at present.

On Jan 17, I went to the Immigration office in Damansara to enquire about the renewal process for passports. In particular, I was concerned about the extension of the expiry date of the new passport.

I was informed that the policy was to extend the expiry date (of the new passport) up to five years from the expiry date of the existing passport, as long as the existing passport had above six months left at the time of application.
