2001 JAN 18 - (NewsRx.com) -- Pharmacia Corp., Peapack, New Jersey, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Detrol LA (tolterodine tartrate extended release capsules).
Detrol LA is a once-daily therapy for the treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms of urinary urge incontinence, urgency, and frequency. Overactive bladder affects 17 million people in the U.S., including nearly one of every five adults over the age of 45.
In the largest placebo-controlled study ever conducted for overactive bladder, more than 1,500 men and women participated in this multinational study conducted at 167 centers. After 12 weeks of treatment, more patients taking once-daily Detrol LA (4 mg daily) reported improvements in their bladder condition than patients treated with placebo, including statistically significant improvements for incontinence episodes (wetting accidents) and decreases in urinary frequency (bathroom visits) compared ...
