Professor Ian V. Hutchinson, a pioneer in the field of Immunology, was on a visit to India to participate in Bright Sparks 2001, the festival of Indo-British partnership in Science.

He teaches at the University of Manchester, UK and is the Director of the North West Kidney Association. He is also the Editor-in-chief of the Journal Transplant Immunology. He specialises in organ transplants, suppressor T-cells, antigen presenting cells, cell surface markers and hybridoma. Professor Hutchinson was in Kolkata to deliver a public lecture on genes and immunity.
