When wooing a potential love interest, it's the little things that count: flowers, candy, love notes.

Beverly Roman says the same is true for companies that are trying to woo employees into relocating -- details are critical, but they're the things many companies forget.

"Companies gear in on getting a moving company on the relocation package," said Roman, author of 14 relocation books and publisher at BR Anchor Publishing, Wilmington, N.C. "They forget that there are a lot of checklists that you need. There are so many little details, and the practical things are the things that you really struggle with."

Roman cited the case of a company who was relocating an employee who hadn't moved in 30 years. The employee needed everything: a new doctor, a new dentist, a new shoemaker. He …
