Prost tags Mazzacane
Prost Grand Prix has confirmed a one-year deal for the Argentine driver Gaston Mazzacane. He'll team with Jean Alesi in 2001.
The 25-year-old has personal backing from PanAmerican Sports Network, which agreed to a sponsorship deal with the French team last month.
Mazzacane ran the FIA's F3000 Championship for two years, then tested for Minardi last year.
Alesi gave the new Ferrari-engined Prost AP04 its first run at Magny-Cours last week. He ran several short, trouble-free runs.
Prost said he is confident his team will make a breakthrough this year. Commenting after the Alesi test, Prost said he welcomes the technical assistance from Ferrari.
Prost Grand Prix has been restructured, with former driver Pedro Diniz taking a 40 percent stake.
