Kluge donation is largest ever; will support prize, endowed chairs

In what is being called the largest private monetary donation ever given to the Library of Congress (LC), Metromedia President John Kluge has donated $60 million to support the establishment of the John Kluge Center in LC. Library officials say the extraordinarily generous gift will fund endowed chairs in areas such as American law and governance, the cultures and societies of the North and South, technology and society, and modern culture.
