Cancer-causing chemicals have been detected at the site of an almost completed condominium building in Tokyo, it was learned Thursday.

Sumitomo Corp. and Sogo Real Estate Co. are jointly building the condominium, which is located in Sarue Itchome, Koto Ward, Tokyo, between the Oyoko and Onagi canals. Most of the units have been completed, and although the companies are replacing the soil, buyers have complained that they would not have purchased their units if they had known about the contamination.

The 13-story condominium stands on a 3,360-square-meter plot and contains 126 units. The units went on sale in March priced between 30 million yen and 60 million …
