Pardo defends gov't decision on PNB sale to Lucio Tan.

The Department of Finance (DoF) did not keep secret the government's voting rights in Philippine National Bank (PNB), an act that supposedly led to investors' lackluster sentiment on the bank, outgoing Finance Secretary Jose T. Pardo yesterday said.

In a press statement, Mr. Pardo said even after disclosing the government's voting rights, this failed to attract investors to buy into the bank since the rights were set to expire June 30, 2000, or a few weeks after the scheduled sale of PNB.
