Kyoto temples display treasures.

As part of "Winter Travel in Kyoto," an annual campaign to promote tourism, many temples in Kyoto are exhibiting priceless treasures through March 18.

Many noted temples are located in this ancient capital whose treasures have been safeguarded for centuries. Usually kept in storage, these amazing works of art can only be seen at certain times of the year. The following temples are showcasing their treasures during the period of the campaign.

-- Konkai Komyoji Temple. This temple is one of the headquarters of the Jodo sect of Buddhism. It was originally a training hall where the priest Honen, founder of the sect, practiced asceticism.
