Jayapura, Irian Jaya, Jan 9 (ANTARA) - By Tuesday evening a search and rescue team was still unable to locate the Navy Cassa plane that went missing in Irian Jaya's mountainous jungles on Monday.

A number of aircrat, including an Air Force Boeing 373 plane, Navy Nomad planes and helicopters were deployed to search for the missing plane, which carried top Irianese military and civilian officials.

Maj. Tamsil Malik, pilot of the Boeing 373 plane, said his plane, which was equipped with radar and other electronics equipment, had been combing the areas from Biak, Timika, to Wamena believed to be the route of the ill-fated plane.
