Emerson, St. Louis' largest public company, might be a takeover target for United Technologies' Chief Executive George. David -- at least according to Forbes.
The speculation comes as David continues searching for a blockbuster acquisition, according to the Dec. 25 issue of the business magazine. General Electric outbid David's Hartford, Conn., company for Honeywell in October, a deal that is pending.
An Emerson spokesman declined to discuss the report, saying the company does not comment on rumors and speculation. United Technologies representatives could not be reached for comment.
