2001 JAN 10 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Health information from the Internet is the key ingredient for advancing world health, according to health publishing executive, C.W. Henderson, CEO of NewsRx.
Henderson said that delivering the correct information in knowledge-based reports is the most efficient way for health care professionals to improve lives.
"Now consumers can improve their knowledge of health care, too, by using the Internet for information," Henderson said.
NewsRx provides over one million pages of health information each year to pharmaceutical companies, medical researchers, public health authorities, educators, and managed-care professionals. Both in numbers of articles and report titles, it is the world's largest provider of health news and information to the pharmaceutical and health care industries.
Market research shows over half of the adult online users go to the Web for the information they need to manage their health. "Web searchers need to know what to ask their physician and what the latest health news for their specific need is," Henderson said, adding that research shows 90% of them find the Web useful.
If health information is so useful, then why aren't Internet health sites making any money?
"Internet health sites have been ignoring the educated health consumer who is willing to save time and pay for information, and have relied on advertising for revenues, which has proven to be the wrong business model," Henderson said.
