Finally, a New President

At long last, the wait for a new American president came to an end. Not all were satisfied with the result, however, or the process in getting there. "This is a sad day for democracy," one reader said, while another believed that "Bush will never have legitimacy in the eyes of the world." On the other hand, a few were impressed with the methods taken to reach a conclusion for the seemingly endless battle. "America has provided an example that many countries would do well to emulate," remarked a Zimbabwean.

A Questionable Process

It is a sad day for America and a sad day for democracy when a partisan Supreme Court decides that not every vote counts after all. The honor of America's highest legal institution has been trashed.

Daniel Boyd -- Bangkok, Thailand

The American people may well have spoken. But it looks like we may never know what they really said.
