This live-action adaptation of the world-famous comic book story tells of the little village where Asterix and Obelix live which faces the threat of disappearing from the map.

The Romans have occupied most of the surrounding area but meet stiff resistance from local leader Asterix (Clavier) and his sidekick Obelix (Depardieu).

Obelix is enormously strong because he fell into a pot as a child; the pot contained a potion from the village wiseman which provides incredible strength.
