Link seen between IV treatment, deaths Yomiuri URAWA Circulatory failure possibly linked to a badly administered treatment has been determined as the cause of death of nearly 40 of 77 patients who died at Asakura Hospital in Showamachi, Saitama Prefecture, over a one-year period, Saitama prefectural government officials said Friday. It had been discovered that the rate of use of a treatment called intravenous hyperalimentation (IVH) at Asakura Hospital, which specializes in psychiatry and internal medicine, was much higher than that at most hospitals.
