Kyoei Life Insurance Co., which failed in October, will next month begin selling four kinds of insurance products, including cancer insurance, under an agency agreement with Prudential Life Insurance Co. of the United States, a sponsor commissioned to aid Kyoei's revival, Kyoei announced Thursday.
It marks the first time a life insurer has been granted approval by the Financial Services Agency to sell another life insurer's products as an agent.
The ban on sales of insurance products by agents was lifted in August. The FSA has previously only approved one such arrangement between a life insurer and a nonlife insurer.
