Thinking of playing with firecrackers during this festive season? You'd better think twice. The Royal Brunei Police Force, through the Head of Public Relations, stated yesterday that in Section 17 (1) of Brunei Law, those caught playing firecrackers could face imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 15 years. In addition, they could face between three to 12 strokes of the rattan.
Under section 17 (2), any one violating the act could face a penalty of $3,000. In view of this, the police advised the public, especially parents, to scrutinise the children's activities. Firecrackers could pose a danger not only to an individual, but also one's property. …
