Stepping outside the monitor's limitations If you are doing desktop publishing and you can't afford a large screen, Stepping Out, a software package from Berkeley System Design Inc. in Berkeley, Calif., might provide a reasonable alternative. This program makes your applications think it is writing to a larger screen. You can specify the screen size from preset sizes of 8 by 11 inches to 3 by 2 feet, or you can create custom sizes. Your application displays documents as if to a large screen, although you can see only nine inches (or 12 inches on the Mac II) of it at a time.
