Software maker Viewlocity's post-chain vision is of collaborative trade network

With DHL International, Ryder Systems and Bid Freight Global signing on recently as customers, Atlanta-based software provider Viewlocity believes its vision of a collaborative "supply web" is gaining acceptance among logistics providers.

"The supply chain is broken," said Viewlocity CEO Greg Cronin. "The new reality for global companies is the concept of a supply web, in which all trading partners truly collaborate and which prevents these fractures from occurring."

Viewlocity, spun off from the Swedish company Frontec AB in March 1999, specializes in integrating disparate applications software, allowing them to speak in a single language. This relatively simple concept allows …
