After weathering financial woes that had threatened to halt all or some of its construction projects, Parkland Health & Hospital System has expanded its neonatal intensive care unit to include a new six-bed area for low-birth-weight babies needing long-term care.
The 900-square-foot addition to Parkland's 72-bed unit was completed last month and is now accepting patients. The project, which was part of Parkland's budget for last year, includes new floors and light coves.
