Two companies that have operated in the same "heart-healthy" software and equipment market for nearly a decade have opted for marriage.

Polar Electro of Woodbury, said it acquired HealthFirst Corp., a New Mexico-based developer of software and Web-based products used in health and fitness assessment, risk appraisal and nutritional programming.

Both companies are privately held and financial arrangements were not disclosed. Under the agreement, HealthFirst will operate as Polar's research and development division for software and Web-based products.

HealthFirst provides software and hardware systems for assessing overall health status and risks, fitness level and nutritional habits, then uses that information to…
