A jury has awarded Caliper Technologies (1275 California Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94304; Tel: 650/842-1960, Fax: 650/842-1970) $52 million in the trade secret lawsuit brought against Aclara BioSciences, Inc. (3906 Trust Ave., Hayward, CA 94545-3716; Tel: 510/293-1855; Website: www.aclara.com) by Caliper. The award includes $21.1 million for misappropriation of trade secrets, $26.5 million for unjust enrichment of Aclara, and $5 million in other damages. The jury denied Caliper's request for punitive damages.
