SILIGURI, Nov. 28. - Declining budgetary support to the Railways coupled with a 'tradition of profligacy' of the railway ministry will soon render the country's biggest public sector organisation bankrupt.

This was stated here today by the president of the All India Railwaymen's Federation, Mr Umraomal Purohit, at the end of the union's annual conference.

"While the over the years, budgetary support for Railways has dropped from 85% to 15 per cent of the total expenses, the policy of the past railway ministers to pamper their personal vote banks, has only brought the situation on the brink of bankruptcy," Mr Purohit said.
