SUITA, Osaka -- A failed real-estate agent who killed his wife and teen-age daughter in a Suita hotel room, but bungled an attempt at taking his own life Saturday will be arrested for murder, police said.
The 56-year-old man, whose identity is being withheld, allegedly strangled his 44-year-old wife and adopted 16-year-old daughter apparently because he was distraught that his real estate agency had left him with debts he was unable to repay.
He also tried to slash his wrists to commit suicide, but failed dismally.
"The real estate business I ran started to go sour," police quoted the man as saying. "I wanted to kill myself and my family."
