Russia's Tyumen Oil Company (TNK) hopes to boost its stake in the BP-led Rusia Petroleum joint venture, operator of the Kovykta gas field in eastern Siberia. If successful, the Russian oil firm will become the joint venture's second-largest shareholder after BP.
TNK already holds 6.01pc of Rusia and is now said to be holding talks with oil investment group Rosinvestneft on purchasing the latter's 8.46pc stake. It is also taking part in an additional share issue by Rusia. The first round of the issue was completed this week, and a second is due by 8 November.
