Residents of three Tulsa, Oklahoma area nursing homes are helping researchers find some answers to the unsolved puzzle of Alzheimer's disease. Recent research has linked Alzheimer's and Down's syndrome through enzymes found on the number 21 chromosome. Medical and research scientists have long suspected that those two conditions had something in common, since aging victims of both conditions show the same neurofibrillary tangles and amyloid plaques in the brain; but they could not find the common denominator.
