NEW YORK In baseball, it ain't over till it's ... well, it may as well be over -- unless you live in New York.

If you listen to most sports analysts and insiders, the vaunted subway series between the Yankees and Mets is getting a true Bronx cheer from the rest of the country. And the TV ratings are likely to reflect that.

New York -- in true what'sittuya fashion -- doesn't care.

"Most New Yorkers assume that New York is the center of American culture and everyone is interested in what goes on in New York," says Neil Pilson, former prexy of CBS Sports and currently head of Prison Communications.

Is that actually the case?

"No," confirms Pilson.
