'Samsung unit working on an IPO'.

SAMSUNG SDI (M) Sdn Bhd, a concern owned by South Korean conglomerate Samsung Corp, is said to be actively working on an initial public offering (IPO) which could be launched as early as in the first quarter of next year.

The Negri Sembilan-based company, formed in 1991 and started operations the following year, was formerly known as Samsung Electron Devices Sdn Bhd.

Samsung SDI is expected to derive various benefits as a Malaysian entity which is listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, rather than merely a foreign company operating here.
