Let's cut to the chase -- past inflammatory TV spots, emotional pleas and exaggeration.

We need to be very serious about planning for our future as explosive growth continues in the Valley.

But doing so at the ballot box through the broad-based Proposition 202, the Citizens Growth Management Initiative, is bad public policy.

The initiative would create growth boundaries and require developers to pay costs associated with new development. That might sound reasonable, but the details show there is much more to consider.
