Having just moved in to its new facility in July, and celebrated its grand opening this fall with a bang, the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC), located in Regina's Research Park on the University of Regina campus, is set to guide Saskatchewan's petroleum sector to unprecedented heights.

PTRC was formally launched in late 1998 with four founding members, Natural Resources Canada, Saskatchewan Energy and Mines, Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) and the University of Regina. Having such a diverse, committed and qualified partnership will undoubtedly be the key strategic element to the PTRC.

"What is unique about the PTRC is that it's combining university with the provincial research organization (SRC)," says Roland Moberg, general manager of the PTRC. "Typically that hasn't been done. That gives us the opportunity to carry out both basic research through the U of R professors, grad students and so on, with the applied research side through SRC."
